STUDIO REVIEW

This week I take a look at the work of Jamm VFX.

The thing that caught my attention about Jamm VFX is their ability to place extraordinary motion graphics and animations into real, everyday scenes. This work runs parallel to work in augmented reality and highlights the comptemporary movement towards dual realities. This is something that designers need to stay up to date with: the digital design revolution will likely sweep everyone along with it!

Projects likes those by Jamm VFX encourage me to explore how digital design can embrace what it is while finding a place in the real world. I can use my skill with software to make the mundane interesting and attention grabbing.

IS THERE AN ISSUE SURROUNDING AWARENESS OF POLITICAL BEHAVIOUR?

My entry point into exploring the data was to ask whether people are aware of what their politicians are doing while in office, and if graphic design could increase transparency.

It became clear that, for the most part, people were seeking information about their representatives, but it was not easily accessible to them. This, I reasoned, was due to the presentation of the available data and information.

WHAT NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES MIGHT RESULT FROM LOW VOTER INFORMATION?

As an extension of my finding, I wondered about the negative consequences that could result from low information voting, particularly in terms of (1) voting for representatives who will have progressive views when it comes to combatting climate change and (2) keeping pressure on representatives in already in office who ran on a green manifesto.

Through deductive reasoning, it seemed clear to me that, with low information, voters may elect politicians that block changes that would benefit the voter and/or elect politicians that were ineffectual, talking and doing little during their time in office.
